“The best way to predict your future is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln
I believe our city’s future isn’t something to sit back and wait for—it’s something we actively shape with vision, community spirit, and forward-thinking leadership. Guided by that belief, I would propose a series of transformative initiatives that reflect not only practical improvements but the heart and soul of a city determined to thrive.
Revitalizing What Matters Most: From sports fields to civic spaces, we’re committed to reinvesting in the places where community life happens. The Leeds Sports Facilities Revitalization initiative prioritizes youth by upgrading the fields near Moton Community Center—because every child deserves a place to grow, play, and build confidence. Meanwhile, the Leeds Civic Complex is designed to serve everyone, with spaces for events, a covered farmers market, and even a walking track to promote wellness and connection.
Building Spaces for Every Voice: Great communities are built on listening. That’s why the Leeds Listens Initiative ensures that every citizen has an open door to the mayor’s office—literally. With monthly meet-ups at local spots and dedicated times for walk-in conversations, this initiative puts accountability and transparency front and center. And internally, our public-facing departments are part of the Leeds First Impressions Program, which encourages outstanding service through citizen feedback and rewards employees who go the extra mile.
Creating Amenities That Build Community: We’re also investing in what makes life enjoyable and families proud to call Leeds home. The Dog Park Initiative brings a new space where neighbors—and their pets—can meet and socialize, with separate areas for large and small dogs, cleanup and hydration stations, and thoughtful design for safety and fun. These aren’t just parks; they’re gathering places that foster friendships and community spirit.
Streamlining Growth with Efficiency: Economic development must be efficient to be effective. That’s the heart behind the Leeds FastTrack Initiative, which aims to dramatically cut wait times for permits and plan approvals. By holding the system accountable to quick turnarounds, we’re saying yes to growth while maintaining quality and oversight.
Leeds Is Better Together: Every one of these initiatives—from infrastructure and beautification to open communication and city services—echoes a common theme: Leeds is better when we build together. As we step forward with faith in our shared future, these plans are not just policies—they’re promises.
Let’s create the future of Leeds—stronger, kinder, and more connected than ever before.
